Resistance ending is not satisfying

I’ve finally gotten around to finishing Resistance: Fall of Man, thanks to the latest FragFX firmware. Buttons no longer bleed into each other so the shooting doesn’t devolve into an exercise in frustration. There’s much to be desired about the game’s ending, though.

The ending is made up of a short narrative, a rather long list [...]

Trailer gives details on free Rainbow Six Vegas 2 DLC

Remember the free expansion (a.k.a. “Fan Pack”) for Rainbow Six Vegas 2? If you’ve wondered about the little details that would come with the update but are too lazy to read the miniscule explanation, then look no further. Ubisoft, the game’s developer and publisher, has created a video that explains all the little details.
The Fan [...]

Deconstructing Yahtzee’s Metal Gear Solid 4 review

Benjamin “Yahtzee” Croshaw thinks Metal Gear Solid 4 is a “stiff and inefficient” third person shooter,” mainly because of the controls. The game’s storyline was lambasted as well, but that was to be expected. Surprisingly, Yahtzee seems to hate MGS4 even more than Haze, which was universally reviled.

Rant: Metal Gear Online griefers are not your ordinary griefers

There are griefers, and there are Metal Gear Online griefers. The run-of-the-mill griefers do what they do because it’s actually rather fun in a sick, zit-popping, puppy-kicking kind of way. MGO griefers, on the other hand, are a new breed of dolts.

FragFX firmware is a pain to update

I’m terrible at shooters when using two analog sticks. This is why I resort to using the FragFX, a special PlayStation 3 controller that lets me play console FPSes with mouse-like precision. In theory, it’s supposed to be great. Application however, is another story.
My FragFX never really gave me that PC shooter feel. Granted that [...]

ScrewAttack proclaims 10 best FPS of all time

ScrewAttack came out with its own list of “top 10 FPS of all time.” Off the bat, let me tell you that this is extremely difficult to put together. There are many terrific FPSes out there, so limiting it to a mere 10 is no easy task. Frankly, I think it’s actually quite unfair.

MGS4 How To’s: Beat Vamp

So you’ve finally returned to Shadow Moses and had a good look at Metal Gear Rex (or what’s left of it). That’s when Vamp, the seemingly-immortal bad guy, jumps you. Fighting the guy seems easy enough, especially since his attacks aren’t particularly devastating or difficult to dodge. But when the battle extends to over 10 [...]

NSFW: Snake snaps pictures of MGS4 beauties

If you’ve played Metal Gear Solid 4, then you probably know that there’s a feature to take pictures in there somewhere. Combine that with the gorgeous bosses Snake gets to fight, and you’ve got yourself a weird mix of disturbing NSFW videos.

Yahtzee reviews Haze and doesn’t hate it as much

Here’s something one should pay attention to when watching one of Benjamin “Yahtzee” Croshaw’s video reviews: the guy is not big on praising games that belong to the FPS genre. If Yahtzee doesn’t hate (place shooter title here) as much as Turok, then the fanboy in you would likely deem it as worth the purchase. [...]

Battlefield pokes fun at Metal Gear

There’s a new video clip for Battlefield: Bad Company circulating in the internets. It looks like the Digital Illusions-created FPS is once again getting some sort of attention (cough *micropayments* cough), but not because of its merits.

Tell me, is the video clip funny, or is it as a pathetic attempt to get some attention because [...]

MGS4 playthrough: Could boss fights be not as good?

Pundits say that the PlayStation 3 provides über designer Hideo Kojima the platform to finally realize his vision for a Metal Gear game. I say hogwash. Kojima never did let hardware limitations prevent him from creating masterpiece upon masterpiece in the previous console generations.
Case in point: the brilliant boss fights. Each Metal Gear Solid installment [...]
