See Dementium: The Ward in action

If all you’ve seen of Dementium: The Ward is pictures, then you haven’t seen it. I’ve embedded its new trailer below, so do take the time to watch. It’s not your average ad trailer, mind you. The video gives us a peek at the seemingly-deliberate pace of this FPS/survival horror game.

I don’t know […]

Activision confirms Soldier of Fortune 3

Are you ready for more controversial shooters? Hell yeah. Kotaku just announced that the third Soldier of Fortune is in the works. The new title? Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back. Sheesh, can’t the game makers even spell the word correctly? It’s Payback, one word.

Activision has confirmed this news by saying:

“Soldier of Fortune: Pay […]

The Darkness gets good reviews

Generally at least. Of all the reviews already available, only one isn’t very positive. I included the GameTrailers review, so knock yourself out.

1UP.com thinks The Darkness is “a more polished game, and the base mechanics work extremely well by the time you reach the end of the single-player campaign. It doesn’t quite have […]

Previously-unreleased Doom tunes get shared

John Romero, the long hair behind Doom, has shared over 30 unreleased Doom MIDI files in his blog. You can download them all, but the game icon gave us a caveat: The tunes aren’t very good. That’s the reason they didn’t come out with the retail version of Doom in the first place.

Romero proceeded […]

Shadowrun gets cracked, runs in XP

If you’ve gotten tired of waiting for the leaves to fall and play Shadowrun without having to migrate to Windows Vista, then you’re in luck. Razor 1911, a popular warez group, has successfully hacked Shadowrun to be played under XP. Yes, you don’t need DirectX 10 either.

Like other cracks in existence, all you must […]

Quake Wars trailer leaves bad aftertaste

A new trailer for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is out, and it gives us a look into how the multiplayer shooter is cooking up. Have a look:

The response to the trailer hasn’t been very good. The biggest point of contention is how the game currently looks. Others reason that Quake Wars is currently […]

New details on Metroid Prime 3

August will be a month of destiny for a couple of high-profile shooters. First is Bioshock, that spiritual successor to System Shock 2 that has high hopes of making us wet our pants in delight (or terror). Another game that you shouldn’t take for granted is Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, that first-person shooter/adventure game that […]

Brothers in Arms DS trailer shows us more gameplay

Can you believe it? The news of Brothers in Arms coming to the DS was crazy enough when I heard about it early this year. UbiSoft just released a trailer of the upcoming game, and I until now couldn’t believe what I just witnessed.

Indeed, Brothers in Arms is coming to the DS, and […]

The Darkness demo is delayed

You may be surprised on hearing that The Darkness demo being delayed, but I was even more stunned when I heard that the game has a MySpace account whose blog detailed why said demo was going to be a bit late.

Yes friends, The Darkness demo is being delayed because Starbreeze Studios encountered “a few […]

Call of Duty 4 is lighting it up

What makes our shooters look great? More textures and polygons? Yes and yes. But the feature that sets them apart from other smaller details that you may overlook is lighting. Don’t believe me? Boot up F.E.A.R. and try playing the game with low lighting details. You’ll see graphics that scream 1998. Well not exactly 1998 […]

Quake Wars will have in-game advertising

The guys at Splash Damage talked to the community about in-game advertising in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, that hot shooter built using a modified Doom III engine. And you know what? The response seems to be generally good. For now, at least.

Neil Postlethwaite, managing director at Splash Damage, explained that the developers want to […]

Big Daddies are roving Bioshock stage bosses

I’ve never heard of a roving stage boss before, and that’s how Irrational Games describes Big Daddies in Bioshock. Want to know more? Watch the trailer below:

I like the idea of creating a unique experience for each player, and according to lead designer Ken Levine, that’s what Irrational Games is aiming for. Levine […]
