Welcome to First Person Rantings. The place where you get to read about me talking about First Person Shooter games. Exciting. I know. Hopefully this blog will grow and develop into something I’m comfortable with so bear with me as I figure out what suits me best for posts. I don’t want to just review games, because everyone does that, so I’ll be deciding how I want things as I go. And of course there’s always reader input. As long as your requests aren’t too inane or dumb (because yes, there are dumb ideas. Live with it) I’ll see if I can’t incorporate them into what I’m doing.

Figured I’d give a little bit of gaming background on myself. A few credentials, a resume if you will. Started off with the good ole NES. Zelda was my first game, gold cartridge and everything. I stuck mostly to the NES and SNES for a long time. Never really got into any of the other systems. I played a lot of DOS games on my family’s old computer. Rogue, Tetris, a few other little games here and there. Eventually we got a “good” system and my first “real” game ever was actually Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. Yup, that’s right. Not an FPS game. Absolutely love it to death. Still to this day one of my favorite games. I of course got the other MW games and then branched out, Descent. Descent 2. Starsiege Alpha, demo, full and then Starsiege: Tribes. I had played some Quake before, but never really got into it. Tribes was where I broke out into the FPS scene, and man, was that a game to do it in. I was outside. I had a jetpack, I could fly. I COULD FLY!! And of course, there was the team work. Never had I come across such a team oriented game. I had played CTF in Starsiege and Descent 2, and things like that, but Tribes just brought it to a whole new level. I was amazed. I’ve played it ever since. 6 years or so I played that game. Obviously there were other FPS games I played, but Tribes was my online game.

I enjoy a wide variety of games, except sports. I refuse to consider those real games and anyone who plays them is not a “real” gamer. Not a huge fan of console FPS games either, just because those controllers are a poor excuse for a mouse and keyboard.

I’m sure this post is getting tedious to read already so I’ll try to cut it off soon. But come on! It’s my first post. I’m allowed to carry on a little more than usual. Anyways, I hope to make this something everyone enjoys to read. I think that’s my main goal. Just writing about something that I like and hoping that people enjoy reading it.

Oh and I’d like to give a shout out to Ingrid over at the Play-Girlz She’s the one who got me writing here. So you can either give her your thanks or hate mail. I’m sure she’ll appreciate both. And more than likely be excited about it too.

Haha, thanks for the shout-out, Matt. I would enjoy hate mail. All the love letters get so monotonous. Hahaha. ;)
